Ohio to Nevada in 5 minutes

It took 4 days to drive 2,165 miles from Athens, OH to Las Vegas, NV. I set up my 20D in the back seat and made a timelapse of the entire trip and synced it up with Google Earth.

Leaving Ohio

My Mom and Dad see us off early in the morning as Debbie and I set out for Las Vegas, our new home.

Super 8 Dump

Our first night on the road, Debbie and I stayed in this Super 8 dump in Tulsa. The carpet, shower curtain and even the ceiling were covered in what looked like blood stains. The wifi sorta worked, but we couldn’t login in to any online accounts or use google maps.

Coolant Leak
Bugs on the radiator

Roasted Grasshopper

We started loosing coolant somewhere in Oklahoma, which meant we had to stop and add antifreeze/water in between fill ups.

Leaning water tower
Largest Cross in the Western Hemisphere

The leaning water tower is actually listed as a roadside attraction on Texas tourism sites. Strange things in Groom, Texas. We drove by the self proclaimed “largest cross in the western hemisphere” as we passed through Groom, Texas also. Weird.

We went a little out of our way to visit beautiful and mystic Sedona, Arizona. It’s about 4 hours from Las Vegas and we plan on going back.

Las Vegas Home

Our new home in Las Vegas, or Henderson to be more precise.

That was pretty neat. Found it doing a google search on driving from nevada to ohio.
Im from Cleveland and moved to Laughlin, NV a year ago… came by plane. We wanted to vacation in Ohio by driving (we took a plane for our last vacation a few months ago back home but not having a car to drive around was hell) but didnt know how hard the drive would be. Even though that didnt asnwer my question it was cool seeing the whole drive summed up into 5 minutes.. too bad its really not only 5 minutes away.

I really like your video. I went to Vegas on my honeymoon. Your video really makes me want to roadtrip out West with my kids. I might take up a new hobby so that I can document our trip in the same way you’all did.
    Thank you for the inspiration
    God Bless You

  8. Wow there are a lot of factors there. How good of shape your car is in, how much junk you have. Your mpg goes down with every 100 lbs you add. The last time you changed your spark plugs and the oil affect your mpg. Do you use cruise control? How many stops are you going to make/cities are you going to go through? The heat of the day even affects it.

  9. Dude you are a great inspiration!!

Thirst in the Mojave tries to bring a little more web mentality to video but still utilize the linear narrative strengths that make video such a great storytelling tool.
