Leaving Las Vegas
This is my last week at the Las Vegas Sun. I’ve accepted a job at the New York Times and I will be joining Andrew DeVigal and his all-star interactive team. As I’m packing up my condo to fit into a tiny New York apartment, I’m also finishing a couple of big projects at the Sun. I will post more about those projects very soon.
I do have some regrets about leaving the Sun at such an exciting time, but it’s also an exciting time at the NYTimes.
So as I’m leaving Las Vegas, here’s some of what I’m leaving behind.
- The Greenspun Interactive team is almost completely set up in the new Greenspun building and the work environment looks awesome. I will post some photos soon.
- The new studios are incredible, and green! The grid lighting in both of the studios use LED and are incredibly energy efficient. The building they’re housed in is LEED certified.
- There is also a game room complete with pinball, Xbox 360, Wii, free food and soft drinks.
- The best part is… they’re hiring!
Here are some of the jobs available:
- New-media journalist
- New-media sports journalist
- Visual journalist (still photography and video)
- Video/multimedia journalist
- Video journalist/on-camera
- Web-applications developer

It’s been a hell of a year, Zach, and you know we’re sad to see you go. I won’t soon forget those 20-hour days back in December and January, before we launched. And, I can’t wait to see what phenomenal projects come out of your fusion with the Times.
Hope the move is relatively painless. Looking forward to your first update.

Awesome stuff man. Kick some ass in NY. I’ve been in a definite multimedia hiatus for the last year and a half since I graduated but I have come around and plan on tearing up coding of all sorts and will hopefully put together a few interactive pieces from my hike on the Appalachian Trail. I visited NYC for the first time about a month ago and have totally set my sites on it. Take care of yourself and keep on doing what you are doing. There is obviously not to much higher to climb in your world from the Times.
