Scriptwriting with Celtx

Posted by: Zach Wise    Tags:  Multimedia    Posted date:  August 16, 2008  |  1 Comment

Over the last couple of months, I’ve fallen in love with a little piece of software called Celtx. Celtx is a free program geared at pre-production. For scriptwriting it’s awesome. It remembers the names of each of the characters, auto-formats based on scene and dialogue and you can create storyboards from the script! I have two narrative projects that will launch in the next couple of weeks, and I used Celtx almost as much as I used Final Cut Pro in working out the story for them.

They even have an online component, so that you can upload your project to their server and collaborate with others. I haven’t used this feature, but it’s seems incredibly useful. If you upload your project, you can login to your account on their site and view it on your iPhone.

I also use Celtx for my scripwriting. It is a pretty strong tool and the feature tour video suite they put on their site is also quite outstanding. I used some other commercial tools before and Celtx compares pretty well considering the price. Celtix’s Project Central contains hundreds of script projects – quite fascinating.

    I also recommend Celtx.

I am in no way affiliated with Celtx, just a happy user.
